World Korean Judo Society members visited PoHang City 한국유도의 큰 별들 포항 찾았다 (PoHangNews 09.22) Team Korea won 3 Gold, 2 Silver, & 2 Bronze medals at the 2008 East Asian Judo Championships on 09.20 in Taipei. Male Team Korea won a gold medal in the team championships (Korea v. Japan - 3: 2; Korea v. Taiwan - 5:0). World Championship for Juniors - International Judo Federation - After the Dominican Republic in 2006, it is now Thailand’s turn to host the 14th World Juniors Judo Championships.The most important competition in the calendar of athletes under 20 years of age, will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, October 23-26. (09.17 - IJF ) World Judo Team Championships - The 2008 edition of the Team World Championships is going to be held in Tokyo, Japan, October 3-6. There will be 8 teams competing in the men’s competition and 8 in the women’s competition. The European Judo Union and the Judo Union of Asia will both have two teams representing them, whilst the African Judo Union, the Pan-American Judo Union and the Oceania Judo Union will each have one team to represent their continents. Given the importance of the competition, which was a qualifying event for the Olympic Games, the level of judo was a high one and the event was catalogued as a success. Besides the very good organization and the high number of participants, the Championships offered to the world of judo a very interesting and most of all important moment for Olympic Qualification.
